FAQ's
1. When
applying to law school, how important is it to have a
pre-law major?
Admissions committees look for candidates who stand out. If
your college major is something other than law-related, you
may actually have an edge over others.
2. If I excel
in college, does that ensure my acceptance into law school?
When you are applying to law school, the competition is
fierce because most other applicants have also excelled in
college. Thus, your excellent college performance may not
be as much of an asset as you think.
3. Is the Law
School Admissions Test (LSAT) as important as college
grades?
Your LSAT score is considered to be the single most
important factor in your law school application package.
4. Will
acceptance into law school ensure my future?
Getting your foot in the door is merely the first step.
What happens after that takes a great deal of hard work and
the ability to overcome numerous obstacles while under
enormous pressure.
5. If I can
handle the pressure of college, won’t law school be a piece
of cake?
As
mentioned earlier, law school is full of students who
excelled in college. Thus, the bar is raised and the
competition is on a much higher level than what you
experienced in your other educational endeavors.
6. If I did
great on my college exams, won’t I ace law school exams?
College exams and law school exams are completely
different. In law school, it will never be acceptable for
you to merely regurgitate memorized material back on an exam
as you did in college. You will always be expected to think
on your feet.
7. Will life
at law school be similar to what I experienced at college?
No! But, if you read Law School 101, you will feel much
more comfortable than if you walked in without knowing what
to expect.
8. Will
everything else in my life remain the same while I am in law
school?
Nothing will remain the same as it was pre-law.
9. If I do
excel in law school, will I become a successful attorney?
For the most part, law school is where you learn about the
law. Practicing law is where you apply what you have
learned. They are two completely different worlds. How you
perform on the outside will determine how well you will do
in your profession.
10. Will Law
School 101 make law school easier for me?
Law School 101 gives you all you need to know to make the
transition into law school a much easier experience. You
will be given enough information and guidance to overcome
obstacles that other law students have a difficult time
adjusting to on their own.
More importantly, Law School 101 breaks the silence
regarding what you have been led to believe about law school
and attorney life. Knowing ahead of time what to expect is
the best way to prepare for any endeavor. After reading Law
School 101, you will be completely prepared to make an
educated decision about becoming an attorney before it is
too late to change your mind.
